The Trestle Way Neighbourhood

If you currently spend more than 30% of your pre-tax income for housing, you may qualify for housing/co-op membership in the Trestle Way Neighbourhood (adjacent to Lawrence St., Amherst St., Queen St.).

Extension and the Trestle Trail.

The neighbourhood offers 30 units, with 70% prioritized for seniors of Queens County. The remainder are for other Queens County residents. The units are pet-friendly (with rules for both pets and people).

What is ‘affordable’ housing? The Nova Scotia Housing Commission Report (2021; p19) defines “affordable housing” as costing less than 30% of an individual’s or households’ pre-tax income.

The Trestle Way Neighbourhood as funded by: Nova Scotia Community Housing Growth Fund, Efficiency Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia Sustainable Communities Challenge Fund, Federation of Canadian Municipalities, Region of Queens Municipality (pre-development, test pits, project management, engineering, architecture, land, access), Government of Nova Scotia (Dept. of Growth and Development) and the Government of Canada (via Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s Co-Operative Housing Development Program).
