South shore MP gets cabinet position

South Shore-St. Margarets MP Bernadette Jordan will have a new role to tackle this year.

Earlier today Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a minor cabinet shuffle, with the South Shore MP taking on the role of Minister of Rural Economic Development.

Jordan has also served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Democratic Institutions in her first term as MP.

The shuffle comes shortly after the resignation of fellow Nova Scotian liberal MP Scott Brison, who had served as chair of the Treasury board.

The shuffle included Montreal MP David Lamette becoming Justice Minister, Vacouver MP Jody Wilson-Raybould to Veterans Affairs, Seamus O’Regan to Indigenous Services and Jane Philpott to the Treasury Board.
