Province Opens Playgrounds, Bursts Family Bubbles

Nova Scotia has eased its COVID19 restrictions.

For the first time since the state of emergency was declared, children can now play on playgrounds.

Premier Stephen McNeil also announced groups of up to ten people are now permitted without social distancing.

People are not required to be exclusive but they are strongly encouraged to maintain a consistent group.

However, social distancing rules are still in effect for gatherings up to 50.

The 50-person limit applies to social events, faith gatherings, sports and physical activity, weddings and funerals, and arts and culture events like theatre performances, dance recitals, festivals and concerts.

McNeil says this is the news Nova Scotians have been waiting for.

“You can finally get that log awaited hug from your grandchild, a parent or a close friend.”

The premier reminded Nova Scotians they still need to be vigilant.

“And let’s not forget the other core principles. Washing your hands, good hygiene and wearing a mask when you feel it is necessary, and definitely when you can’t maintain physical distancing.”

Nova Scotia currently has two active cases of COVID-19 and hasn’t had a new case in nine days.
