RCMP investigating stranger approaching child

RCMP are investigating an incident where stranger allegedly approached an 8-year-old girl outside of Dr. John C. Wickwire Academy.

The incident occurred between Feb. 1 and 14, and reported to police on March 6. The girl was waiting at the entrance of the school, when the man pulled up and offered her candy and toys. She was not hurt in the incident.

A description of the individual is vague at the moment, however the girl described him as a tall man with a deep voice, and he may have been wearing a colourful costume.

The RCMP are working with the school to review surveillance video to find out more information.

This is the only incident that has happened in the area, but police are working with the school staff to make sure the students stay safe.
