Memories Cafe wins Outstanding service award

A local business has won the outstanding service award at the Lunenburg Queens Business Excellence Awards.

Memories Café accepted the award on Tuesday night at the ceremonies in Cookville, and this is the first year the Outstanding service award was presented.

Jeff Whynot has worked the front of house since the café opened in 2012. While running the café is a team effort, Whynot accepted the award at the insistence of owner Linda Smith because he is the one most customers interact with.

Whynot says that having fun with the customers, but also making sure that any problems are taken care of quickly and attentively is the secret to customer service success. He said he was honoured that they received the award.

“Getting the award meant a lot to me,” he said.

Memories Café also won the best news business award in 2012.

This year the Large Business award went to Belliveau Veinotte Chartered Accountants while the Small Business award was won by Tilia Builders of West LaHave.

Tanner & Co Brewing in Chester received the New Business Award and The Barn Coffee and Social House of Mahone Bay was recognized with the Hospitality Award.

Dr. Kombu Brewing Company of New Ross won the Export Achievement award.
