Missing person found dead in Ponhook

RCMP have located the body of a 49 year old man, who was reported missing on the evening of Jan.21.

At approximately 9 a.m. on Jan. 22, searchers located the remain in Ponhook Lake. His body was recovered on Jan. 23. The investigation into the death is continuing and we have not made a determination about any criminality at this time. The man left to go for an ATV ride on the evening of Jan. 21 and was last seen driving past an island on Ponhook Lake.

RCMP Air Services and Underwater Recovery Team provided assistance to Queens District Detachment during this incident. The RCMP said they would like to thank everyone involved in the search, including Volunteer Firefighters. The RCMP addedtheir thoughts are with the victim’s family at this difficult time.
