Kettle campaign breaks records, touches hearts.
Though the holidays are over, the Salvation Army still has plenty to celebrate and give thanks for, after their annual Kettle campaign surpassed their goal for 2018.
In total in Queens and Shelburne county the campaign raised $27,094.65. Barb Redmond, one of the organizers of the campaign, says it’s important to recognize it down to the nickel, as every bit helps.
“I mention the 65 cents… because a little boy dumped his change purse into the kettle. Every penny is significant,” she says.
Redmond says they also had plenty of volunteers to sit by the kettles this year, which is a big part of the success.
“The volunteers reported such kindness,” says Redmond. “People would often stop and thank them for their volunteerism. They were really touched by that.”
She adds beyond those that donated, the managers at the grocery stores and NSLC outlets also deserve thanks for the help they provided.
