Plenty of questions about aquaculture site

The community members that came out to the Cooke Aquaculture information session on Oct. 30 were either unsure of the aquaculture site’s benefit, or openly opposed the expansion.

One resident of Beach Meadows who is opposed to the expansion is Brian Muldoon. Muldoon was seen on the corner of Bristol Ave and Milton Rd on Oct. 27, protesting the proposed expansion.

Muldoon first noticed the site going through changes in July, when an automatic feeder was installed. The feeder is visible from his vacation property, and caused him to dig deeper into aquaculture in general.

Based on the research he has read, Muldoon says he does not have a positive view on aquaculture. He adds the negative impact on other industries such as the lobster fishery is not worth the benefits.

Muldoon says he will continue to speak against the expansion and organize efforts to put pressure on the province and the company to not allow the expansion to go through.
