Region staying neutral in fish farm expansion

For now the Region of Queens Municipality is not taking any official stance on a proposed Cooke Aquaculture expansion in Liverpool Bay.

A Previous council wrote a letter of support for citizen efforts to stop aquaculture development in Port Mouton Bay as the evidence showed it was creating too great of an impact on the environment. However Mayor David Dagley says they would need to see science based evidence that any chosen site was unsuitable before taking a position.

Dagley added he has heard little in the way of problems or complaints about the Liverpool Bay site from the community.

Any stance from the municipality would not have any impact on development, as aquaculture falls under provincial jurisdiction.
