Pleasant Avenue getting repaved – at a cost

Pleasant Avenue just outside of the town of Liverpool limits is getting a repave, but cost overruns by the province left councilors unhappy the municipality is holding the bag.

Originally the province expected the cost to be around $50,000, however the tender came in at $79,000.

With the road heavily used by school buses going to Liverpool Regional High School, Mayor David Dagley said they have little choice but to accept the cost.

Although the road under provincial ownership and they control the tendering process, its designation means it will only get repaved if the municipality requests it and covers half of the costs.
