QCCR (CJQC) RECEIVES GRANT FROM COMMUNITY RADIO FUND OF CANADA’S (CRFC) RADIOMETRES PROGRAM.

CJQC in Liverpool, NS received funding for a “Breaking News, Weather and Sportscaster” under the Community Radio Fund of Canada’s (CRFC) Radiometres program which will fund a broadcaster who joined the station September 24, 2018.

The project will include a broadcaster who will develop programming to provide up-to-date local information on Queens County events to include cultural, local, national and international sports & news, school information, regular weather updates, and pertinent information that needs to be shared with Queens County listeners.

Brian Godfrey and Vina Moses, Co-Managers of QCCR realized that the news, weather and sports coverage for Queens County has been sparse due to lack of funding and personnel. This funding will mean all areas of Queens County will be included with coverage as events happen, as well as news about what will happen in the future.

“I’m happy to add this project to the growing list of initiatives funded by the CRFC. This project will keep the residents of Queens County informed and will allow the radio station to embrace and promote the culture and history of their region,” says the CRFC President, Roger Ouellette.

QCCR is a community radio station completely run by volunteers. Programming includes a diverse selection of shows which highlight music including: adult contemporary, country, Indie, Blues, Rock, Gospel, Women’s Music, Reminiscent mood, Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Americana, Folk, Maritime Music, to name a few genres. Speaking programs include Telling our Stories, The History Vault, A Moment in Time, Older & Wiser, Perspectives, Origin of the Song, Sports Cap, Tapping the Youth Perspective, Engage our Community. Volunteers are the lifeblood of the station and assist as on-air hosts, programmers, external community Emcees, live community feeds, ad spots, Board members, Managers, fund drive phone managers, and responding to help with whatever the radio station needs.
