Hundreds showed up at the Hank Snow Museum community park on Tuesday in Liverpool for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. (Rick Conrad)<\/p><\/div>\n

Hundreds turned out to the Hank Snow Museum Community Park in Liverpool on Tuesday to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Survivors of residential schools and their families shared their stories in the morning. In the afternoon, organizers held a mawio’mi, or pow wow, that highlighted Indigenous dancing, drum singing and traditional crafts.<\/span><\/p>\n

This was the fifth annual event in Liverpool to honour the victims and survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.<\/p>\n

The National Indian Residential School Crisis Line is available 24 hours at 1-866-925-4419. It provides support, including emotional and crisis referral, for former residential school students.<\/p>\n
