{"id":1743,"date":"2019-01-09T17:00:30","date_gmt":"2019-01-09T21:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.qccrfm.com\/news\/?p=1743"},"modified":"2019-01-09T14:05:18","modified_gmt":"2019-01-09T18:05:18","slug":"first-pride-spiel-in-liverpool-a-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.qccrfm.com\/news\/2019\/01\/09\/first-pride-spiel-in-liverpool-a-success\/","title":{"rendered":"First pride spiel in Liverpool a success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Colourful outfits, opera singers and drag queens took over the ice at the Liverpool Curling Club on Jan. 5 for the first and likely annual pride spiel.<\/p>\n<p>The event was to show support to the LGBTQ community, something that has been on the club\u2019s mind for over a year.<\/p>\n<p>While unsure what to expect when the event was first announced, organizer Jenn Chase said it couldn\u2019t have gone better.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone has been so happy about it and had a good time. It was a success for sure,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The spiel had all 12 team slots filled, with teams coming from all over the province, and plenty of positive feedback from the participants.<\/p>\n<p>Next year\u2019s Pride Speil is set for Jan. 11, and Chase says they are even discussing turning it into a two day event.<\/p>\n<p>With the first event of 2019 finished, the club is already preparing for the next.
