Barb Redmond, one of the organizers of the campaign, says it\u2019s important to recognize it down to the nickel, as every bit helps.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mention the 65 cents\u2026 because a little boy dumped his change purse into the kettle. Every penny is significant,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p>Redmond says they also had plenty of volunteers to sit by the kettles this year, which is a big part of the success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe volunteers reported such kindness,\u201d says Redmond. \u201cPeople would often stop and thank them for their volunteerism.
